The design for the PON cauldron was inspired by the traditional West Papuan tifa drum.
The cauldron was lit during the Opening Ceremony by famed athlete Boaz Solossa and extinguished during the Closing Ceremony by sending it through the cascading waterfall- an exciting and dynamic conclusion to the ceremony.
